What I had to do instead, is to initially install the USB Wireless Dongle and necessary software on my desktop computer but now I can review and sync my info via the Surface RT. However, I do wish that I could configure and update my Fitbit device via my Surface RT *. I think the Pros outweigh the Cons and the price can’t be beat. Cannot do your initial setup of your Fitbit device on Surface RT family of tablets, it requires a Fitbit Connect app installed and there isn’t one available in the Windows Store *.You can essentially do the same thing via the web Fitbit Dashboard if you have WiFi connected.It allows data sync via wireless USB dongle only. Plug in the Fitbit USB dongle that came with your Fitbit device.But the live feature can be turned on and off. Live tile cycles through your stats – this could also be a con if you don’t want one of them displayed (like weight, for example).You can see the menus and features in this picture: It also has a social component, so you can share data with your friends or family members and see how you measure up against them – personally I don’t use this option but others may like it. It will even allow you to track your nightly sleep patterns (if you have the Fitbit One device like me). This means that you can track your progress over time and compare against your own goals. That is true, however, the application also allows you to see both daily and historical data. You might say: “so, what? I can see most of the same stuff right on the Fitbit device” It tracks things like number of steps, calories burned, distance traveled, number of very active minutes, floors you’ve climbed, and your weight. The new app has an entirely new and more fluid UI and adds their new Challenges feature. It lets you sync and track your progress. Today, Fitbit has finally overhauled their Windows 8.1 Modern app for tablet and PC users. Fitbit App is available via the Windows Store. The devices are purchased directly from Fitbit and then Fitbit software allows you to view your activity results.
